Dr. Samuel’s Approach to Patient Care
Dr. Samuel was drawn to the orthopedic spine specialty because of exciting advances in new technology and innovation. While there has been much advancement in the field, there is still a great opportunity for future investigation, research and academics in spine surgery.
When meeting patients initially, surgery is not Dr. Samuels immediate focus for those presenting with neck or back pain, weakness, or pain radiating down the limbs. Most patients improve with non-operative measures such as physical therapy, injections, and oral medications. Dr. Samuel emphasizes non-operative measures such as physical therapy, injections, and oral medications, with surgery being considered only for patients who do not respond to these conservative approaches over time.
